Flying together
The group normally comprises 12 like-minded individuals who share the use of G-ATON, our Piper PA-28-140 Cherokee. A few key roles within the group keep everything running smoothly.
Our annual flying amounts to around 140 hours, which means aircraft availability is exceptional.
Two of our members are flight instructors (FIs), making coaching and check flights straightforward to arrange.
Joining the syndicate
To join the group, you need a valid flying licence and preferably an accident-free record. If declared accidents increase the insurance premium, this can be discussed and addressed with the group.
Every new applicant must be approved by a majority of the group.
Share costs and payments
One syndicate share is currently available for sale at an approximate cost of £5,000.
We take a flexible approach to share costs and are open to short-term staged payments for people wishing to join.
When members leave
Members occasionally leave, generally because they are doing less personal flying. A departing member is responsible for selling their share at whatever price they can agree with a buyer. The syndicate takes no part in those financial negotiations.
Any prospective buyer must still be approved by a majority of the group before joining.
In recent years, some departing members have chosen to hand their shares back to the group without payment. The group has no objection to this voluntary choice, although it is unconventional and is not expected of anyone leaving.
